Our Founders

Sam Abdelhay

Sam and Julian, the co-founders of Hope Homes, share a profound journey of recovery and resilience. Their personal battles with addiction and alcoholism have shaped their commitment to creating a supportive environment for individuals seeking sober living.

Sam's struggle with alcoholism and addiction began in his teenage years, leading him to a rock bottom that felt insurmountable. Feeling utterly defeated, he found hope at a rehab facility in Winchester, VA. It was here that Sam's life took a transformative turn. After completing his treatment, he moved into a sober living house and has since become a dedicated and active member of the recovery community. His experience inspires and supports others on their path to sobriety.

Julian Epps

Julian's journey is similarly marked by a battle with addiction that began in his youth in Virginia Beach. His involvement with alcohol and drugs led him to a rock bottom, leaving him in a relentless struggle. Seeking a way out, Julian found his way to the same rehab center in Winchester where he met Sam. This pivotal connection marked a new chapter in his recovery journey. Following his rehabilitation, Julian also moved into a sober living home, laying the foundation for his new life. Embracing his role in the recovery community, Julian has become a passionate advocate for sobriety and support. After leaving rehab, Sam and Julian lived together in this sober living house. It was during this time that the idea to start their own sober living home took shape. They observed that most sober living homes only offered a place to live, but they envisioned something more. They wanted to create a culture within their homes that provided more than just shelter – a supportive and nurturing environment where individuals could truly rebuild their lives.

Together, Sam and Julian have channeled their experiences into founding Hope Homes. Their shared vision is to offer a safe and nurturing environment that goes beyond traditional sober living. Through Hope Homes, they aim to create a community that provides hope, support, and a path to lasting recovery.
